I wanted to share a quick way to fix most gates that are having a hard time opening or closing. I’ve been seeing a lot of them lately and I’m happy to fix them up for you or tell you how to get it done! Most gates are having problems, not due to the hinges or hardware but because the hinge side post is starting to sag or give. If you have another post on that side that is fairly close the easiest way to get it set back up is to attach a length of 2×4 to the hinge side post, lift the gate into the correct position and then attach the other end of the 2×4 to the next post. This will provide support to the hinge post and prevent it from sagging!
